The Memory Areas chart shows the total amount of memory being used by Azure SQL Managed instance's caches over time.

It is broken down into each of the main cache areas:

Optimizer Code

is a work area for the Optimizer

Lock Area

is memory allocated to keeping track of locks

User Connections

is memory allocated to keeping track of each connection’s attributes

Sort, Hash, Index

is memory used for each of these operations
